5 Home Decor Trends To Follow This Year!
We’ve all seen those lists before: This seasons “Must Have’s” & “Trend Reports”, but often I feel like a lot of it is just fluff or regurgitated information from marketers trying to sell you on something. So, I wanted to make an honest post about what trends I think are worth mentioning & actually have staying power. Here are a few of my favorite looks in 2019!
1.Minimalism & Natural Elements
As much as I love a good eclectic color bomb- think Palm Springs!, there’s something therapeutic about minimalism and this connection to nature we’ve been shifting toward. You can thank Scandinavian design for all the muted tones and neutral trends we’ve been seeing lately. Can’t be a bad thing for those of us who won’t be on be on vacation anytime soon! The beauty of home decor is if you do it right, you can get that same relaxing vibe you would at a 5 star beach resort. Emphasis should be on the bedroom & bathroom to achieve this. I mean, just look how gorgeous this space is!
10 bonus points when paired with hints of gold/brass elements.

2. Statement furniture
So this trend we’ve seen before & I don’t think it’s going away anytime soon. Here’s why: It’s a good investment! We all know a comfy couch is the framework for any good living space, so double that with it being super visually appealing & you have yourself a winner. Bold colors, intricate detail like scalloped edges or a even something textile like velvet will really make the room pop & you really don’t have to do much else. You can always use throw pillows to mix things up each season. I don’t like it, I love it!
3. The Cafe Kitchen

I really love industrial, and I’ve seen a shift to home kitchens taking note from trendy cafe’s with the floating shelves, pendant lights and pots on display. Don’t be surprised if you go to your friends house & she’s got a full on menu printed out. “Grilled Cheese anyone? “ For a girl who loves to cook, I love this idea!
4. Details, Details!
I just love a pretty backsplash! Joanna Gaines first turned us on to subway tiles and ship-lap, then the Spanish motif inspired design made a wave, but here we go into a whole other level of creativity + design. People are really getting crazy with this and I’m liking every bit of it. I guess everyone is vying for that #1 most pinned spot!
5. 90’s color play
Whether you’re a fan or not, hair scrunchies, dad shoes & Saved By The Bell have made a comeback. Before you click out of this site, let me just explain that I am not saying we jump on the bandwagon entirely. However, there are some takeaways that will surely transcend into home decor just as fashion always does. Bottom line is, you can expect to see really funky statement art pieces or accent pillows with nods to this Memphis Design movement & the play on color patterns is really fun!
